Interview with Josie Daub, Interim Executive Director of the Canada Ski Federation (CSF)

Shortly after the official launch of Jasey-Jay Anderson’s official web site, I interviewed Josie Daub, the Interim Executive Director of the Canada Ski Federation, at the GROUPE-ACCES communications offices in Montreal:

Jona:
You have just had your first glimpse at Jasey’s official web site. What do you think?

Josie:
The web site is really comprehensive and unique, and it covers not only Jasey’s career and results, but also some very personal aspects of his life and his family, and that’s a nice touch. I have never seen such information in any other athletic site, and I know it would become the first stop for anybody who is looking for information on Jasey, because it contains just about everything. As a matter of fact, one journalist already told me that he does not need to interview Jasey anymore – he can get anything he would need from the site. It is definitely going to serve the public well. We are definitely looking forward to creating a link from our CSF site directly to Jasey’s.

Jona:
Have we achieved our objective to portray Jasey the Athlete, as well as Jasey the Man?

Josie:
Yeah, and that’s a nice touch, because people would like to find out what Jasey is really like. The testimonials about his character and values really paint an intimate picture.

Jona:
What has Jasey contributed to the reputation of Canadian snowboarding and of the Canadian Ski Federation?

Josie:
We worked together to put each other on the map: we tried to make him more of a public figure, and his amazing results succeeded in placing us on the international map over the past season. We now pose a serious threat at the Salt Lake City Olympics, and Jasey is extremely instrumental in this: the media in Quebec has also supported our sport a great deal this year, and we are very pleased. When Jasey came back from his European victories, we had an incredible turnout at the airport. He has created a lot of momentum for the sport.

Jona:
Any word of advice to Jasey before he heads to his spring training session and to the Olympics?

Josie:
We hope to continue working with him as best we can in his quest for an Olympic gold medal. He is the strongest contender in the man’s GS team, without a doubt.

In a telephone interview with Site Editor, Jona Rapoport, Jasey mused: “I am very happy with my results this season. Truly happy. If I had to retire with this as my final year, I’d feel very fulfilled. But there is always room for improvement, so next year will be better yet, of that I am certain.”
